New Delhi: An Argentinian court will hear the plea for Quattrocchi's extradition on Friday.
The court proceedings on India's request for Quattrocchi's extradition to face trial in the Bofors case in India were slated to begin the Argentine Foreign Ministry passed on the Indian evidence against Quattrocchi to the courts in Argentina.
A Federal court in El Dorado city, 1500 km from Buenos Aires, had examined a 250-page file submitted by the CBI to Argentine Foreign Affairs department.
The Italian businessman is allegedly one of the beneficiaries of the Bofors kickbacks case in India.
However, legal experts say that it might take up to two years for India to get Quattrocchi extradited or the case to be decided one way or the other.
The Italian businessman also has the option of appealing in higher courts after the trial court's verdict.
A CBI team, which is in Buenos Aires to fight the legal battle, has expressed hope that it will be able to get the key Bofors accused extradited this time around.
The Indian side will have to show that Quattrocchi faces charges that are compatible with Argentine law and that the statute of limitations would not be violated, legal experts here say.
