A petition says that a new two-rupee coin, which carries the picture of God Ganesh be recalled from the market.

Bhopal: A petition was filed against Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Y V Reddy on Thursday charging them with misuse of Indian currency.

Sushil Kumar Shrivastava also pleaded before the court of Judicial Magistrate (First) Deepak Bansal that a new two-rupee coin, which carries the picture of Hindu god Ganesh with a lantern in his hand, be recalled from the market.

The coin was issued to commemorate the completion of 150 years of Indian Railways.

The lantern is the election symbol of Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal.

Shrivastava's counsel Raj Kumar Pandey told IANS that it was not only misuse of the currency but also amounted to hurting religious feelings of the Hindus.

Bansal has fixed December 1 as the date of hearing of the case.
