Srinagar: Seven civilians, including two young boys and a teenage girl at Samba district and two women and a man, were killed on Tuesday in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir in yet another ceasefire violation by Pakistan Rangers on Tuesday.
The Pakistani troops shelled border hamlets and posts along Ramgarh sector in Samba district.
A police spokesperson said hundreds of residents were forced to abandon their homes near the border in the Samba district. “They used every mode of conveyance, even walked barefoot, to escape from the line of fire,” he said.
There have been as many as 60 ceasefire violations by Pakistan in the last one month. There has been a significant rise in this number over the last five years, with civilians caught in the crossfire.Number of ceasefire violations and civilian casualties:
