Patna: RJD MP and brother-in-law of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav on Friday surrendered before the designated vigilance judge.
Sadhu Yadav had been on the run ever since April 10, when the vigilance court had issued non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
Designated Judge R N Sharma enlarged him on bail after he furnished a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties each of the same amount on the directive of the High Court.
He also deposited his passport following the High Court order asking him not to leave the country without prior permission of the court.
Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad of Patna High Court had on May 22 granted anticipatory bail to Yadav on a personal bond of Rs 50,000 and two sureties each of the same amount.
The Vigilance Investigating Bureau, which had issued a nation-wide alarm against Yadav following issuance of the the non-bailable warrant on May 9, had moved the court for property attachment order against the MP.
The Apex court had on May 15 refused to grant Yadav interim protection from arrest, but directed the Patna High Court to hear his anticipatory bail prayer "on merit".
