New Delhi: With the introduction of Microsoft's Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 operating systems, Samsung has announced "ATIV", the new brand for its Windows-based devices.
The company has announced a wide portfolio of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8-powered devices which include the ATIV Smart PC, ATIV Smart PC Pro, ATIV Tab, and ATIV S.
The ATIV Smart PCs and tablets will run Windows 8 operating system, while the ATIV smartphones will run Windows Phone 8 OS.
Samsung ATIV Smart PC and Samsung ATIV Smart PC Pro
The Samsung ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro have 11.6-inch screens.
These provide computing power with Windows 8 functionality as well as full Windows 7 compatibility.
Each device features a detachable keyboard-docking system that allows users to easily switch between a clamshell notebook PC and a tablet PC form factor.
The ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro are equipped with the S Pen, delivering writing and drawing experiences.
The ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro are only 9.9mm and 11.9mm thick, respectively.
The ATIV Smart PC Pro is armed with an Intel core i5 processor, while the ATIV Smart PC is engineered with an Intel Atom processor.
The two devices feature USB 2.0(Smart PC), USB 3.0(Smart PC Pro), mHDMI, miniSD and two extra USB 2.0 ports on the keyboard. The ATIV Smart PC said to have a battery life of up to 13.5 hours, whereas the ATIV Smart PC Prois claimed to offer up to eight hours of battery life.
Samsung ATIV Tab
The Samsung ATIV Tab runs Windows RT. Weighing 570g, the tab features a 10.1-inch HD LCD display, and measures 8.9mm thick. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor.
It sports a 5 megapixel autofocus Camera with LED Flash and a 1.9 Megapixel front camera.
Other features include Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 Host, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Channel Bonding, 3.5mm earjack, Micro HDMI and NFC.
It is enginnered with a 8,200mAh Li-ion battery. It has 2GB RAM.
Samsung ATIV S
It is the world's first smartphone using Microsoft's latest mobile software Windows Phone 8. The Samsung ATIV S has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and HSPA+42 connectivity. T
The smartphone features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display. It has an 8 megapixel auto focus rear with LED Flash and a 1.9 megapixel front camera. It has a Li-ion 2,300mAh battery. The phone has 1GB RAM.
