Neenasam Satish, who has played supporting roles so far, will now play the lead role in ‘Lucia’. Satish who has successfully appeared in several Kannada films as a comedy actor, will now turn hero with ‘Lucia’ which will be directed by Pawan Kumar. “For the first time, I will play a double role in the film,” he says.
Coming from theatre background, Satish has donned the role of several interesting characters. But his role in ‘Lucia’ is unique. “It will be quite exciting to play a character, which I have not done before on screen nor in theatre. It requires a lot of hard work and meticulous preparation. Pawan Kumar has done a fabulous job with his script. Now it is my turn to add life to it,” he says.
The director wanted a star like Diganth to play the role but has now opted for Satish. “The actual reason is that I had proved myself in his first film, ‘Lifeu Ishtene’, which he had really liked. He also knows about my experience in theatre. Pawan thought I would do justice to the character. That’s why he chose me,” says Satish, explaining to us that he was also approached before for the role but he could not give the dates then.
“I am also a part of ‘Drama’. I was busy shooting and so I could not allocate dates for ‘Lucia’. But now that I have completed the shooting for ‘Drama’, I could allot dates for this film. Since the hero’s position was still open, I came into picture,” he says.
Was director, Yograj Bhat behind Satish’s role in Lucia, since he always likes to explore good talent? “Yes, of course, somewhere Yograj Sir wanted me to be a part of Lucia. I am getting more opportunities because of ‘Drama’. Secondly, people should recognize me as an artiste before I become a star. The supporting roles I got in Yograj, Suri and Pawan Kumar’s films were quite strong,” says Satish.
According to Satish, talent can be nurtured. “One can’t become a hero by just dancing or going to the gym. Ultimately, it is your talent that matters. After playing supporting roles for a while, I was thinking about my next move. Soon, Yograj and Pawan gave me the opportunity, and I quickly jumped at it,” he says.
