Security has been beefed up at seven railway stations, including Jaipur and Ajmer, after a letter purportedly by a terror outfit threatened to carry out an explosion on April 21, three days before second phase of Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to be held in Rajasthan.

North West Railways (NWR) have alerted its security agencies including GRP, RPF and state police and extra precautions are being taken by them at Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bikaner, Alwar, Hanumangarh, and Sriganganagar railway stations, official sources said on Saturday.

Entry and exit points of the stations are being strictly monitored by the security agencies, a senior NWR official said.

A letter from an unknown terror outfit was received by the Station Master of Ferozpur about a week ago. In the letter they had warned of blowing up any of the seven railway stations on April 21.

After the letter, NWR alerted the security agencies, the official said.

However, Railways have not disclosed the sender's identity to the media.
