Sewage drain overflows

BANGALORE: The sewage drain in HAL 3rd Stage has been overflowing with dirty water for the past three months and has been causing inconvenience to the residents at 5th Cross, 3rd Main in HAL 3rd Stage. As Bangalore city is witnessing light rainfall in the past few days, the situation has worsened and the sewage water has started entering a few homes, much to the panic of the residents. When residents called the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and informed about the drain blockage and overflowing, they responded by saying that they will send people to solve the issue, but until now, no one has ever visited the spot. M V Prabhu, a resident of the area, said, “The authorities are least bothered about the issue. Every morning when vehicles move on this road flooded with drain water, it becomes a mess and the condition of the road has also turned deplorable. I feel ashamed to say that I live in Indiranagar. I had taken up the issue with the assistant executive engineer of BWSSB in February, but there has been no response from their end.” BWSSB junior engineer Srinivas said, “We have not received any complaints regarding the drain overflow. I am new to this area and the previous assistant engineer Somashekar has been transferred. We will send someone to the area for inspection and will solve the problem at the earliest.”
