The 10-day Gandhi Shilp Bazar (Bamboo Bazar) is being orgnised by Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Government of India in association with Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation, for the promotion of crafts and textiles. Nearly 150 master crafts persons from all over the country are participating with their exquisite craft creations to showcase their traditional arts and crafts for the benefit of art connoisseurs of the twin cities. In order to promote the bamboo products, stalls have also been exclusively reserved for bamboo artisans especially from the North Eastern region.Artisans from various States would exhibit their handicrafts at the Gandhi Shilp Bazaar. The handicrafts include stone carvings, wood carvings, metal crafts, terracotta, designed pottery, paintings, mural, jewellery, cane and bamboo handicrafts, textiles, hand weaving and embroidery textiles, woollen carpets, khadi and handloom, papier-mâché and paper products. The bazaar will be open for public on all days including Sundays till October 2 at NTR Stadium, Indira Park.“The main purpose of this Gandhi Shilp Bazar is to create marketing facility keeping in view of Dussera,” says Y Madhusudhana Reddy, managing director, APHD Corporation Ltd.
