Pursuing the philosophy of continuous learning, Easwari Engineering College on Wednesday inducted the new batch of UG students in BE and B Tech on the auspicious occasion of Teachers Day.
The chief guest, Dr T R Pachamuthu, founder and chancellor of SRM University, spoke about the group’s infrastructure and facilities and said that the induction programme was mainly for the students and parents to know the institution and the people in it. He also advised students to feel confident and prove themselves in the global arena.
Welcoming the students, he said that the Sri Ramaswamy Memorial Group (SRM Group) of Educational Institutions for higher learning comprises 20 colleges, three universities and a host of other industrial units.
In his keynote address, Dr R Shivakumar, chairman, SRM group of Institutions Ramapuram and Tiruchy campuses, highlighted the infrastructure and facilities available in the institution and urged the students to keep away from television and mobile phones. He also urged the parents to watch their wards and interact with their professors periodically.
Earlier, principal Dr Jothimohan B, in his welcome address, said that the college offers seven under-graduate and eight post graduate programmes, covering ‘Engineering and Technology’, ‘Computer Applications’ and ‘Management’.
The college has obtained ISO 9001:2008 certification from TUV, South Asia, offers an excellent environment for both students and faculty members. So far, 10 batches of Engineering students have successfully passed out from the institution. “The college prepares the students to score creditably in the academic sessions and also encourages them to develop their interpersonal and intrapersonal skills and attitudes to approach life with confidence,” added Jothimohan.
Prof N Sethuraman, registrar, SRM University, Narayanaswamy, Director of Ramapuram campus and a host of college officials were present on the occasion.
