HYDERABAD: Any appointments in the public services and public employment, and admissions to central educational institutions made under the 4.5 per cent sub-quota for minorities were subject to further orders to be given on a miscellaneous plea pending before it, the High Court ruled here on Monday.Dealing with a public interest litigation challenging the central government’s decision to create a sub-quota of 4.5 percent reservation out of 27 percent OBC reservation for notified minority groups, a division bench comprising chief justice Madan B. Lokur and justice PV Sanjay Kumar expressed its displeasure over the central government’s failure to file a counter-affidavit on the issue of public interest. The bench had earlier granted time twice to the Centre seeking its response on the plea challenging its decision to carve out 4.5 per cent reservations for Muslims out of OBC quota in education and public employment. The bench granted two weeks’ time to file a counter affidavit on a plea filed by R Krishnaiah.
