HYDERABAD: BJP state leaders believe that the party’s senior leader and leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj has become a Telangana icon for the party and that she will help the party see glorious days in the region.After the BJP national committee had decided to support the demand for state’s bifurcation, national leaders of the party have been focusing on the Telangana statehood demand. At the time of last general election BJP parliamentary party chairman LK Advani declared that Telangana would be formed in 100 days if the BJP-led NDA was voted to power. Now, Sushma Swaraj has spoken strongly in Parliament in favour of Telangana.After Chidambaram’s famous December 9, 2009 statement on Telangana, the BJP and its frontal organisations have been active in the Telangana movement. Sushma Swaraj is their prominent leader taking part in the movement. In the last few months she has addressed an ABVP public meeting and a huge public meeting in Karimnagar in which TJAC constituents also participated.
