Chennai: Just as the Chennai High Court is dealing with the defamation cases against Kushboo, another Tamil activist group tries to cash in on her terrible times.
They've raked up a confession made by Kushboo 5 years ago to a Tamil magazine where she'd said that she knew about a murder of a 2-year-old girl in a 5-star hotel.
The Tamil activist group (Dalit Panthers) is going to court accusing her of concealing that information.
The case comes at a time when PMK and Tamil protection groups are bearing down on Kushboo for her views on pre-marital sex, and the complainant for the murder case is capitalising on this.
But the fact is that the prime accused in the case is not Kushboo. It is the then Police Commsioner Tripati, who did not register the case when approached by the magazine editors.
"She is not the prime accused. A case has been filed against her for concealing evidence and withholding information which she had at that time. It is the then police commissioner who's the accused," Manikandan, advocate for Tamil Protection Group, said.
In August Dalit actor-director Thangar Bachan had passed comments on Khushboo where he had compared actresses with prostitutes. Bachan was made to apologise to her but now Khusbhoo is at the receiving end of a similar vocal tirade.
Khushboo had said in an interview to a magazine that it was fine for girls to indulge in pre-marital sex as long as they took precautions.
She later justified her statement by saying that no educated man expected his partner to be a virgin.
On November 11 a Mettur Court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the actress for not appearing in court.
On Tuesday evening Khushboo surrendered at the Mettur court and has been asked to return on Wednesday.
