HYDERABAD: The supposed callousness of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission officials might cost a job for many Telugu medium students due to at least 50 translation blunders in all three papers of the Group-II exams which ended on Sunday. Many English words were used in the question papers instead of translating them into Telugu. According to a candidate, T Upendar Reddy, there were at least 50 translation mistakes in the papers. According to estimates, around 90 per cent candidates who took the Group-II exam are from Telugu medium. As such, most of these students were unable to understand the meaning of English words given in Telugu language. Upendar Reddy said for one of the questions, the word 'concurrent list' had been written in Telugu script in one of the options but since he did not know the meaning of concurrent list (Ummadi Jabitha in Telugu), he could not answer that question. Speaking to Express, another candidate from Nalgonda, V Ashok said the APPSC had done at least 20 blunders in the second paper in the morning and another 20 in the third paper. Ashok demanded the APPSC to give marks to all the candidates for these questions as Telugu medium students could not understand the questions and options. He added that he was not able to answer around 50 out of the 450 total questions in three papers due to the translation blunders. "Where getting and losing a job is decided in one mark, where is the chance of getting the job now?" he lamented. The APPSC had done similar kind of mistakes in the Group-I exam held recently but it failed to amend them again.
