New Delhi: Debut feature filmmaker Gyan Correa's 'The Good Road' will represent India at the Oscars 2013. The film was picked by a committee appointed by the Film Federation of India (FFI), which was led by celebrated Bengali filmmaker Gautam Ghose.
Irrfan Khan's 'The Lunchbox', which has been a front runner for India's entry to the Oscars, was the closest contender, but couldn't make it.
The decision hasn't gone down well filmmaker Karan Johar. Karan took to Twitter to express his reaction. "#LUNCHBOX had every factor working in its favour. We may have just lost our golden chance. SAD!!!" he tweeted.
However, selecting Gujarati film 'The Good Road' was a unanimous decision by the committee members.
'The Good Road' was picked over 'The Lunchbox', 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'Ship of Theseus', 'English Vinglish' and 'Shabdo'.
The film bagged National Award for Best Feature Film (Gujarati) earlier this year.
Gyan's 'The Good Road' is a story which is based around Kachchh, Gujarat. It revolves around a journey of three sets of people who travel on a highway, traveling across Banni, which borders the Rann.
