KOCHI: Most of the people City Express spoke to said they were in favour of the reconstruction of the North Overbridge, but opined that without proper planning and repairing of roads,it would be foolhardy to take on such a massive project.Deepak P Menon, an employee with a pharmaceutical firm got stuck in traffic as most of the diverted roads became crowded soon. He said,“I came here at 10 in the morning. It is almost quarter past eleven and I still cannot get to North where I have work.” Sandeep Parayil, also working for a pharmaceutical company said his situation was no different. “I really struggled to get back to Elamakkara,” he said. The woes are mounting as most of the potholed roads are yet to be fixed. Ginilal, an auto driver in the city said “ All the roads cut out for diversion are pot-holed. So instead of easing the congestion, it has increased our troubles.”Vijish, another auto driver from the city said “We welcome planned traffic diversions and this is a major opportunity to repair the roads. Unfortunately,it has not started yet and that defeats the whole purpose.”Also commuters having to travel between Kaloor Junction and North Over bridge had a difficult time. Those working close to the North Overbridge faced difficulties while crossing. Vinaya Chandran who is working in a private firm said “It took me half an hour more to reach my office at Kaloor.”
