KOCHI: The first day of the inter-nursery kids fest and the Rotary-New Indian Express Family Shopping Expo ‘11 was held at the Rama Varma Club on Saturday. Cine artistes Poornima Indrajith and Mithra Kurien inaugurated the function. The students from at least 90 schools including Teresa Spinley Public School, Time Kids, Campion School, St Thomas School, Gregorian Public School and Rajagiri School participated in the programme.Single action songs, group action songs, story telling, speech, solo and group cinematic dances were part of the first day’s programme.The expo which was conducted by Rotary Club of Cochin Downtown in association with the New Indian Express had at least 30 stalls which showcased consumer goods, elegant watches, clocks, classic bags, IT products, kitchen appliances, water purifiers and textiles. Also, beauty parlours, hospitals, banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, counselling centres, educational institution, allopathic OTC products, ayurveda products, automobiles and tourism centres were exhibited on Saturday. Rotarians, from more than 30 clubs, and invitees from service organisations, Rama Varma Club, Lotus Club, Women’s Club, Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Chamber of Commerce, Merchants Union, Confederation of Indian Industry, Kerala Management Association, TIE etc participated in the function. At least 266 students participated in the single and group action song category, 141 in the speech programmes and 66 students in the cinematic dance category.
