New Delhi: Two persons were killed and eight critically injured in Doda district of Jammu-Kashmir after an under-construction tunnel collapsed on Monday.
The men were digging the tunnel at 390 MW Dulhasti hydropower project, about 210 kilometers northeast of Jammu, when it collapsed at around 2 am.
The tunnel collapse resulted in flooding of the Kishtwara belt of the district and buried the workers under an avalanche of mud and stones.
Villagers and police have already pulled the bodies out. The deceased have been identified as Om Prakash and Sahid. The victims were workers of the hydropower project.
Three men with life-threatening injuries were airlifted to Jammu and rescue operation has been launched to trace the missing persons.
