Two people have been arrested in Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the rape of a minor girl, whose family members have locked themselves up inside their house for 10 days.
The family had claimed that they were being threatened by the alleged rapists to withdraw a complaint that was filed.
The minor girl was allegedly raped by three men in front of the family members. One person was arrested earlier in connection with the case.
The survivor's statement was registered under section 164, in which she has lodged a complaint against three accused. The family accuses that despite the complaint, the police had not taken any action yet due to which the accused and his colleagues are threatening them.
The incident took place in the Manpur police station of Govardhanpur village on August 31. When the 16-year-old girl shouted, her brother came for help but the accused and his aides later threatened him.
A case has been registered against the three accused under article 376, 511 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code. Thereafter the girl was taken for a medical examination.
The UP government had tweeted that police had been instructed to provide sufficient protection to the family.
