Two suspects have been taken into questioning in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 30-year-old Dalit woman in Ernakulam in Kerala. Kerala Police has registered an FIR for alleged rape and murder in the case.
Police have identified 3 suspects in the case. While two suspects are neighbours of the victim, one suspect is believed to be a close relative.
Police is suspecting the involvement of family members as they did not find any signs of forcible entry into her home where her body was found. The victim's mother and elder sister were not at home when the incident took place.
The woman was found dead in Ernakulam on April 28 inside her home with several stab wounds on her body and even on her private parts. Her intestines were found hanging out of her body after the incident.
While no arrests have been made so far, two investigation teams have been formed which are working on the leads that have been found.
Sources say that police is waiting for chemical analysis to ascertain whether there was rape or an attempt to rape before the murder.
The incident resembles the infamous Nirbhaya gangrape where the victim was molested in a moving bus in Delhi. She succumbed to her injuries 12 days after the incident.
