UP Police rule out rape in teen's death case
Police say that according to the autopsy report the girl was strangulated to death.

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday claimed that the 14-year-old girl whose body was found in a police station in Lakhimpur was not raped. Inspector General of Police (Lucknow) Shibesh Kumar Singh said that the second autopsy report of the teenager's body did not confirm rape.

"The second autopsy report does not confirm rape. According to the second autopsy report it is the case of murder," said Singh.

Singh said that according to the autopsy report the girl was strangulated to death. However, the first autopsy had claimed that the girl died because of hanging.

The three doctors who conducted the first autopsy on the 14-year-old girl have been suspended.

Under pressure, the Mayawati government has ordered a CB-CID investigation into the incident. Mayawati has also instructed her top police officers to meet with the girl's family. An FIR has also been lodged against a Sub Inspector and two constables for murder and tampering with evidence.

The National Human Rights Commission has also issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and sent its own team to investigate the matter.

The girl was found dead outside a police station in Lakhimpur after being allegedly raped by the police personnel. Eleven policemen were suspended immediately after the incident.

It was alleged that the girl was raped by several policemen and then murdered, when she strayed into the police station while tending to cattle.

Her mother says that she saw two policemen come out and throw her daughter's body outside.
