KOLLAM: The Judicial Magistrate of Kollam First Class Court II on Tuesday issued a search warrant for the weapons used by accused Italian navymen to shoot the two fishermen off Alappuzha coast.The order was issued by Magistrate P V Aneesh Kumar, who holds the charge of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in his absence, on the petition filed by City Police Commissioner-in-Charge Sam Christy Daniel, who leads the investigation.The petition sought the custody of the weapons used by the accused Latorre Massimilano and Salvatore Girone. Both are currently in police custody.“The seizure of the weapons is a vital piece of evidence against the duo, which has been charged under section 302 of the IPC for murder. The arrested had admitted that they had shot more than 20 rounds of bullets at the fishing boat,” sources said.The post-mortem report had found that a rifle used for the attack had a calibre of a 5.56mm NATO bore.A bullet each was found from both the bodies and trails of 15 bullets were also found on the boat, police said.
