A 42-year-old railway employee, who had accused BSP MP from Jaunpur, Dhananjay Singh, of raping her in November 2013, on Saturday charged her husband with beating and intimidating her to take back her complaint against the lawmaker, police said.
According to the victim's complaint, her husband who lives separately, reached her Mayur Vihar Phase-1 house on Friday night and asked her to withdraw the rape case against Dhananjay.
"When the woman refused to budge, her husband thrashed her and fled. She reached the nearby Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital where she was given medical assistance for her injuries," said a police official.
After the woman approached police in this regard, a case was registered against her husband under relevant provisions of the IPC including 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) with the Pandav Nagar police station in East Delhi.
