Chicago will be getting a Starbucks Roastery, described as the Willy Wonka experience for coffee lovers, in 2019.
The coffee theater will mark the third Roastery outpost in the US after Seattle and New York, and the sixth international location.
Set to open on the Magnificent Mile, the Chicago store will be a sensorial coffee environment taking visitors through the process of roasting, brewing, blending and packaging of the brand's Starbucks Reserve coffees.
The Chicago location will span four stories and 43,000 square feet.
The store will also feature on-site baking from Italian baker Rocco Princi, who will bake artisan breads to pair with Starbucks Reserve coffees.
Chicago was the first city outside Seattle to see the opening of a Starbucks store nearly 30 years ago.
Along with opening 20 to 30 new Roastery locations over the coming years, Starbucks aims to open 1,000 new premium Reserve stores around the world. Reserve coffee bars are immersive and sensory spaces that delve into the craft of coffeemaking.
