The Censor board has refused to certify and pass filmmaker Kamal Swaroop’s latest documentary film ‘Battle For Benaras’.
The National award winning filmmaker’s film documents the Modi vs Kejriwal 2014 election battle. News has it that the CBFC refused to give the film a certification because it doesn’t show the PM in good light.
Swaroop on his part told CNN-IBN the documentary is sans any commentary and only on the campaign rhetoric.
The censor board has been in news ever since Pahlaj Nihalini was appointed the chief. Nihalini is known to be a BJP loyalist and under his tenure, the censor board had issued a list of ‘bad words’ that filmmakers were prohibited from using. The list was later withdrawn after several board members raised objection along with filmmakers.
