Gauri Shinde's directorial debut English Vinglish beautifully highlighted Indian's obsession for the English Langauge. With her second film, Dear Zindagi, which releases on Friday, it attempts to understand the millennials, and their lives.
Featuring Alia Bhatt in the central character, Dear Zindagi narrates the story of a 20 something working girl called Kaira who, after a series of heart breaks meets Jehangir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan), a shrink. The slice-of-life film has been generating a lot of buzz ever since its first teaser came out, partly because of its interesting, quirky dialogues and also because of the uncanny pairing of SRK and Alia Bhatt.
The film is centered around Alia and it would be interesting to see if the young actress would be able to carry the film on her shoulder. The suppporting cast is also impressive as it boasts of actors Kunal Kapoor, Angad Bedi and Ali Zafar.
Will Gauri Shinde be able to connect with the audience once again? Will Alia Bhatt deliver yet another stellar performance? Will we get to see SRK the actor and not the star? Shomini Sen of News18.com was inside the theatre to find out.
