Did Sushant Singh Rajput Mock IIFA After Shahid Kapoor Bagged the Best Actor Award?
Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was nominated for the Best Actor award for his performance in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, but the organisers had Shahid Kapoor bag the award.

A cryptic tweet by actor Sushant Singh Rajput – especially after Shahid Kapoor bagged the Best Actor award for Udta Punjab at IIFA 2017 - hasn’t gone down well with many on social media. For the uninitiated, Sushant was nominated for his performance in M S Dhoni: The Untold Story, but the organisers had Shahid bag the award.

Since Rajput’s cryptically tweeted "hahahaha" and tagged the IIFA Twitter handle, on July 15, the day when the ceremony took place in New Jersey – his reaction has been interpreted differently by social media. While many are confused with his reaction, some feel it was done intentionally to disparage the award organisers for preferring Shahid and helping Varun win Best actor in comic role for a rather forgettable performance in Dishoom.

As soon as he made this mysterious tweet, fans were quick to give their explanations:

While speaking to Indian Express, a source explained that Sushant’s tweet wasn’t related to the awards.

"Sushant's tweet had nothing to do with the awards. It was simply an expression of having a successful graduation from a background dancer, to now being an actor performing at the very same award function. Infact the tweet was posted right after Sushant's performance and had no relevance to the award ceremony. As opposed to the speculation, not getting an award doesn't affect Sushant as he is very secure as an actor," the source was quoted as saying by the daily.

The IIFA weekend which concluded in New York and New Jersey saw the presence of several stars including Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif.
