Popular comedian Sudesh Lehri is known for his impeccable comic presence in shows like Comedy Circus and The Kapil Sharma Show. He is currently seen in Laughter Chef. But do you know once he was forced to sell his award for a mere Rs 300 to feed his family? Yes, you are reading right. The comedian himself revealed that he was struggling with financial struggle and had to feed his family.
The Times Of India quoted Sudesh speaking in an interview saying he approached the event organizer and asked how much the award would cost. When told the amount, he decided to exchange the award for Rs 300-400. With this small sum, Sudesh bought food to feed his family, showcasing the depth of the financial struggles he was facing at the time. This poignant moment serves as a reminder of the challenges Sudesh faced before achieving stardom.
However, things changed after he participated in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge III. He stood third while Chandan Prabhakar stood second and Kapil Sharma took the winner’s trophy. He has also appeared in several Bollywood films including Ready, Total Dhamaal, Great Grand Masti and more.
Lehri made his Tamil debut in 2007 with the film Wagah, in which he co-starred with Vikram Prabhu and Ranya Rao. Lehri idolizes Bollywood stars such as Salman Khan, Govinda, Johny Lever, and the late iconic actress Sridevi.
Recently, he had a memorable fan moment. The comedian was aboard a flight from Delhi to Mumbai when he met his “favourite” actor, Anupam Kher. He shared his excitement of meeting the veteran actor and conversing with him on the flight through a video post. Even Anupam Kher praised Sudesh Lehri’s comic timing.
Sudesh Lehri shared a video on Instagram where he is seen sitting beside Anupam Kher on the flight. In the clip, he said, “Dosto aaj mein itna khush hu, ki mere favourite actor (Friends, I am so happy today that I met my favorite actor)…” However, he is interrupted when the in-flight announcement begins. Humorously, Sudesh Lehri commented that he was not talking about the voice but the person sitting next to him.
On the work front, Sudesh Lehri is paired with Nia Sharma on Laughter Chefs. The show also has other celebrity contestants, including Krushna Abhishek, Kashmera Shah, Vicky Jain, Ankita Lokhande, Rahul Vaidya, Aly Goni, Reem Sameer Shaikh, Jannat Zubair, Karan Kundrra, and Arjun Bijlani.
