Don 3: Farhan Akhtar Reveals Why He Replaced Shah Rukh Khan With Ranveer Singh, Drops BIG Hint About Plot

Farhan Akhtar announced Don 3 with Ranveer Singh earlier this year. Shah Rukh Khan’s absence from the third instalment saw some backlash. Fans believed Shah Rukh, who played the titular role in Don and Don 2, would have been a better fit. Farhan, in a chat with Faye D’Souza explained that while writing Don 3, he did consider Shah Rukh, but ultimately, things didn’t come together.

Farhan said, “When I first started thinking about doing a Don 3, I mean, obviously, I thought of writing something with Shah Rukh in it, but somehow we just couldn’t find the right place to be able to take the story to. We couldn’t find common ground on it – so that didn’t happen. So I was like, let me just kind of rethink what I want to do with the film and kind of go back. Kind of go a little bit more into like a ‘what made Don, Don’ kind of story, and that’s when I started writing that. Then, that took on a life of its own, and that obviously needed for there to be a younger actor. Ranveer (Singh) just felt like absolutely the right guy to go to for it.”

Meanwhile, rumour has it that Sobhita Dhulipala might join Ranveer Singh in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3. The buzz is that the actress, who recently got engaged to actor Naga Chaitanya, has been approached for an item number in the third installment of the blockbuster Don franchise. Word on the street is that she’s already in talks with Farhan Akhtar and has had multiple meetings with the director.

“Sobhita who has left the audience impressed with her versatility is now planning to do something that she has not done before and it looks like Don 3 is the answer for her. Going by her oomph and persona she will play the perfect attraction in the film. We have learnt Farhan Akhtar has approached Sobhita to do an item song in the film as he is very much convinced she will ace it like no other actress,” a source cited by Zee News claimed.
