Farah Khan’s directorial Main Hoon Na was loved by fans. The multi-starrer film includes Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, Naseeruddin Shah, Suniel Shetty, and Boman Irani among others. Recently, in a conversation with IFTDA Official’s YouTube channel, Farah Khan mentioned that she had offered a villain role to Naseeruddin Shah but he denied it.
Talking to IFTDA Official’s YouTube channel, Farah opened up about Naseer’s casting in the film. She said, “That’s a very long story. Naseer will kill me.” She then shared, “I had first gone to Naseer to play the villain’s role. We went to many people for the villain’s role. We first went to Naseer and he made a fuss and you know how Naseer is… he is very moody. He said I can’t do it.” Farah said that after casting Raghavan, she was still left with the task of casting the role of Shah Rukh’ father and for that, she went to Naseeruddin Shah again.
“Then there was a 10 day role of Shah Rukh’s father for which I went back to Naseer. I said abhi yeh toh kar lo,” she recalled. Farah also said that Naseer troubled her quite a lot during the shoot and so she ended up finishing his 10-day role in just 6 days.
During a recent chat on Twin Encounter’s episode on Chinki Minki’s YouTube channel, Farah talked about changes in Bollywood and her wish for one particular change. When asked about industry shifts, Farah spoke about the positive aspect: better organisation. She mentioned that people are more punctual now, and there’s a structured studio system in place.
Farah said, “Bura change yeh hai ki pehle bahut zyada relationship pe chalti thi industry. Toh agar mujhe kuch chahiye hota tha toh main actor ko directly phone karti thi. Ab ye hoga ki pehle aap unke manager ke sub-manager ko milo. Phir woh manager milega, uske baad unki agency milegi. So it has become very clinical. Interpersonal relations thode kharab ho gaye (The negative change is that in the past, relationships played a big role in the industry. If I needed something, I could just call the actor directly. But now, it’s more formal. You have to go through layers of managers and agencies. So, it’s become very impersonal. Interpersonal relationships have suffered a bit).”
