Father's Day 2017: Vidya Balan's Story is a Tribute To Dads Who Let Their Daughters Dream
On the occasion of father's day, here's a treat for all daughters who've found a constant aide in their fathers and all fathers, who've let their daughters dream and be.

Vidya Balan has shattered the ceilings in Bollywood and carved her own niche in the industry. She has opted for roles that no other actress of her time dares to, she has given performances to the best of her abilities and more so, she's always tried to bring something new to the table. While her onscreen acts always manage to impress the viewers and critics alike, her offscreen bold choices, too, aren't far behind. Whether it's her fashion choices or her blunt and honest statements - she knows how to get the ball rolling.

But while all this has often caught the fancy of many, what isn't known too well, is her father's contribution in making Vidya the woman she is. As a part of Population Foundation of India's campaign titled Bas Ab Bahut Ho Gaya-Enough is Enough, Vidya has united with filmmaker Feroz Abbas Khan and Farhan Akhtar's initiative MARD to send out a strong statement against gender discrimination and to highlight how her father's encouragement led her to be the success that she's known for. And on the occasion of father's day, this video os a treat for all daughters who've found a constant aide in their fathers and all fathers, who've let their daughters dream and be.

In the 6-minute-long video, it becomes clear that had it not been for her father PR Balan's support and encouragement, Vidya wouldn't have had the security to pursue acting. She may have had the conviction but the assurance and upliftment that her dad brought in her life can not be ignored. She herself says that he never once discouraged her when she decided to join the "big bad world of television, cinema."

She also cited the incident wherein before signing Dirty Picture, she first spoke to her parents and made them understand the kind of skin-show the film needs and even held a family preview of the film to understand their reaction.

He also says that no girl should think herself lesser than any boy and should never accept the instilled notions of gender disparity that the society continues to feed. While her father is proud to have daughters like Priya and Vidya, the actress, too, can not stop gushing over the dessert made by her father and the fact that he has always backed her.

What's your reaction?
