Gippy Grewal Opens Up On His Alleged Rift With Diljit Dosanjh: 'We Aren’t That Close Friends'
Gippy Grewal says rumours of his rift with Diljit Dosanjh were started by Gurdas Maan during an award show in Punjab.

Gippy Grewal has finally opened up about his alleged rift with Diljit Dosanjh. In a recent interview, the singer dismissed claims that all is not well between him and Diljit. He recalled how the rumours regarding his fight with the Amar Singh Chamkila actor started and revealed that it was done by Gurdas Maan during an award show in Punjab.

“I remember we were in Punjab for an award show and Gurdas Maan was performing on stage. He stopped his performance just to say that we are looking good sitting together and that we shouldn’t fight and shouldn’t listen to what people are saying. We were shocked to hear him say this because there was nothing like that. After that, Diljit went on stage and cleared that there is nothing like that,” Gippy told Siddharth Kannan.

The Jatt Nuu Chudail Takri actor further explained that it becomes expensive for producers to cast him and Diljit together in a film and that’s the only reason they do not work together. “What happened was that when we started our careers, we did a film Jihne Mera Dil Luteya. That film became a massive hit. So, Diljit set his fees and so did I. Now, to cast us both in the same film would be very expensive for producers. They couldn’t afford both of us. Because of this we never got to work together and people think that we aren’t working together,” he added.

Gippy also admitted that he isn’t very close to Diljit but that does not mean that they aren’t on good terms. “I talk to Honey Singh and Badshah more compared to Diljit. We talk less to each other because we aren’t that close friends but that doesn’t mean that we have a rift,” he said.

Grewal recalled what happened when Diljit met his son for the first time and shared, “I remember when my son Shinda went and met Diljit. He told him, ‘I am meeting you for the first time,’ but Diljit refused and said, ‘I have met you before, you don’t remember it. Ask your father.’ When he came and asked me, I told him that we had organised a Lohri celebration when he was born and Diljit came to that celebration and sang songs. My son then went to him and showed him pictures from that ceremony.”

Gippy Grewal and Diljit Dosanjh have worked together only in one film, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya. It was released in July 2011 and was a massive hit.
