24 hours before the release of Kabali, a video clip from the films introduction has been leaked online. The makers of the film have confirmed that the scene was indeed leaked. They have urged fans on social media to report piracy.
A lot is riding high on the film, and the leak could prove to be costly for the makers of the film. Few days earlier, the producer of the film Kalaipuli S Dhanu filed a petition at the Madras High Court to fight against the rampant piracy issues. The HC had then restrained the license of 250 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in India from permitting illegal downloads of Kabali.
Meanwhile, several 5-star hotels in Bengaluru which were all set to screen the movie will not be able to do so anymore. The District Collector has denied permission after the Karnataka film chamber raised objections to the screening of Kabali in hotels. Rajini fans who had bought tickets for the screening in hotels will be now refunded.
