The Madras High Court, on Thursday, refused a stay on Baahubali 2 release. Madras High Court had sent notices to Sri Green Productions on its unpaid dues to the petitioner. The case has been adjourned to April 18 for further hearing.
With the much-awaited Baahubali 2 all set to hit the silver screens come April 28, Chennai based ACE Media had moved to the Madras High Court seeking a stay on the film release. In its civil suit, ACE Media said that MS Sharavanan of Sri Green Productions had reportedly in January 2016 approached ACE Media for a loan of Rs 1.8 crore and promised to return the amount with an additional sum of Rs 10 lakh ahead of the movie release.
ACE Media claimed that while Sharavanan had taken theatrical exhibition rights of the Tamil version of the film across the State, Sri Green Productions was trying to sell the rights to third parties and the negotiations reportedly took place on April 9 - the day Baahubali 2 audio was released in the city.
They further stated that when he took up the issue with Sri Green Productions, he was told that he would get his dues after the film release. It claims that this was contrary to the agreement signed in February this year. After inquiries, ACE Media said Sri Green Productions had no intention to settle the dues as it was collaborating with third parties for distribution.
Baahubali 2 is one of the most expensive films and is reportedly made on a budget of over Rs 200 crore and has already earned more than Rs 450 crore through the distribution rights.
The film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
