If the latest rumours are anything to go by, actress Mahira Khan has been replaced in Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film Raees. However, the film’s producer Farhan Akhtar clearly mentioned in one of his recent interviews that she is still a part of the film.
Farhan also stated that Raees was already finished, and the parts which featured Mahira were already shot. Hence, in no way could the actress be 'dropped' from the film.
Raees was originally planned for Eid 2016 release, however, Shah Rukh Khan and Excel finalized the date for the Republic Day weekend in January 2017.
Farhan further added that had he shot Raees after the Uri attacks whichkilled 19 military personnel, the team wouldn’t have roped in any Pakistani artiste.
Akhtar had recently lashed out on MNS who allegedly demanded a 5 crore donation for Army from the makers of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, for a safe release of the film.
Akhtar slammed MNS for demanding filmmakers to contribute Rs 5 crore to Army welfare fund as penance for casting Pakistani artistes in their films, and said that it has set a terrible precedent. During a press conference, the director turned actor made it clear that he does not support such extortion and the government should protect the makers if the film has been made lawfully.
"There is no question of paying any money as the Army has itself denied any money which seems extorted from the producers," Akhtar had said.
