Oscar-Winning Filmmaker Wes Anderson Spills The Beans On His Next Project
The filmmaker shared that he had been working on a film in Germany tentatively titled The  Phoenician Scheme.

Filmmaker Wes Anderson, fresh from his first Oscar victory, recently made his debut at the Annecy Animation Festival. He won the Academy Award for his adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar in the best live-action short film category. What makes his visit even more special is that the attendees, especially the animation students at the Annecy Animation Festival, were eager to learn from his experiences. The event reportedly began with a montage of several animated clips from Anderson’s films. However, the filmmaker revealed that he had actually forgotten some of the scenes from his own films.

According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Anderson shared some bits about his early life, influences and his works prior to becoming popular in Hollywood.

The filmmaker also mentioned his collaboration with brother Eric Anderson and spoke extensively of the teamwork involved in his movies.

Additionally, he shared a sneak peek of his upcoming film, reportedly titled The  Phoenician Scheme. “This film I just finished making in Germany, there must be a hundred people on the film who have worked with me on other films. It could be more who come back – and lots of cast members,” he reportedly informed.

He further explained that the people who are newcomers on his set find his method strange. “It’s not necessarily the way movies are normally made. Probably every director is like that. We have our own strange methods, which began in some ways with the first film I made,” he said.

The media outlet had previously reported that the cast of his next film, The Phoenician Scheme, might include familiar faces like Bill Murray, Benicio Del Toro and Roman Coppola.

During the conversation, the Asteroid City director also shared that he wishes to adapt one of Charles Dickens’ works into a film.

“I feel like the writer who I would like to adapt, who I don’t know if I can see the opportunity, is Dickens. I would like to do a big Dickens story. They have all been adapted. They have all been done many times. They’re so interesting. People keep going back to them. They are so entertaining and so complex,” he said.
