Vettaiyan, the TJ Gnanavel directorial featuring the two big megastars of Indian cinema – Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan- has been creating abuzz on social media ever since its announcement. Backed by Lyca Productions, the film is gearing up for a grand release on October 10 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada languages worldwide. On Tuesday, the makers took to X announcing the film has received a U/A Certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), meaning the film is unrestricted to the public but requires parental guidance for children under 12 years.
Sharing two new posters of Vettaiyan featuring Rajinikanth, the makers wrote on X, “The hunt is certified! VETTAIYAN gets the U/A stamp! Get ready for an action-packed extravaganza coming your way! #Vettaiyan Releasing on 10th October in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi & Kannada!”

Reportedly, the film has a runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes and the CBFC had suggested the makers mute some cuss words in the film and also words like Muslim, Sartharji, Neet and Doctor among others.
Apart from Rajinikanth and Big B, the film also stars Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier and Dushara Vijayan in pivotal roles.
The makers of Vettaiyan will be releasing the film’s official trailer tomorrow, October 2.
According to ETimes, the film has earned an astonishing USD 97,000 (roughly Rs 80 lakh) from nearly 4,000 advance ticket sales.
The music of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. S R Kathir serves as the cinematographer and Philomin Raj is handling the edits.
Vettaiyan marks the on-screen collaboration of Rajinikanth and Amitabh after 32 long years. The duo last appeared together in director Mukul Anand’s film Hum, with Govinda, Kimi Katkar, Danny Denzongpa, Anupam Kher and Kader Khan in pivotal roles. Apart from that, the duo has also shared screen space in films like Andhaa Kanoon (1983) and Geraftaar (1985).
After Vettaiyan, Rajnikanth will be seen headlining Lokesh Kangaraj’s next Coolie.
Amitabh, on the other hand, will be next seen in the courtroom drama film Section 84, co-starring Abhishek Banerjee, Nimrat Kaur and Diana Penty. The official release date of the film is still awaited.
