Travis Kelce will star alongside Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville in Grotesquerie.

American football star and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce is ready to make his acting debut in an upcoming horror series Grotesquerie. The show is helmed by famed television writer and director Ryan Murphy. The high-profile show is expected to release on FX around September as it coincides with the American football season. So far, the other known cast members of Grotesquerie are Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville. Kelce’s involvement is expected to bring much attention to the horror show, considering his increased popularity amongst NFL fans and Swifties.

On May 8, Niecy Nash-Betts shared a video from the set of Grotesquerie and revealed Kelce as the new entry on the show. Nash-Betts asked the viewers, “Guys, guess who I am working with on Grotesquerie?”, before moving the camera to Kelce who joined her and said, “Jumping into new territory with Niecy!” This video was captioned, “This is what happens when WINNERS link up!! Travis Kelce, Welcome to Grotesquerie.” Kelce also reshared this video on Instagram stories and wrote, “Steppin into a new world with one of the legends!, thereby confirming his involvement.”

The Kansas City Chiefs captain’s foray into acting is not surprising, considering he has appeared on a number of shows. Previously, he hosted Saturday Night Live and appeared in a SNL skit. He was also a part of E!’s reality dating series, Catching Kelce, in 2016 and hosted a celebrity spin-off of the popular show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? for Amazon Prime Video.

Grotesquerie was first teased in February this year with an audio-only trailer. The trailer had a voiceover by Niecy Nash-Betts’ character who said, “I don’t know when it started, I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s different now. There’s been a shift, like something’s opening up in the world, a kind of hole that descends into nothingness. You say, ‘Well, hon, evil has always existed,’ that ‘things are getting better, there’s never been a better time to be alive!’ … it’s not getting better! Something’s happening around us, and nobody sees it but me.”

The ominous-sounding trailer has the horror fans excited. Ryan Murphy has previously made a number of successful horror and psychological thrillers like American Horror Stories, Ratched and The Watcher.
