Veteran Actor Rajesh Puri Escapes Kidnapping In Delhi, Shares Chilling Details
Rajesh Puri, while sharing the ordeal, revealed he received Rs 35,000 from the scammer along with a return ticket from Delhi.

Veteran actor Rajesh Puri recently narrowly escaped a frightening ordeal when a group of men reportedly attempted to kidnap him. As per reports, he had received an invitation from someone named Shivam to attend an event in Delhi on September 8. However, upon arriving in the capital city for what he believed to be an award function where he was scheduled to be the chief guest, Rajesh discovered that the event was a “ruse intended to trap him.”

In a conversation with ETimes TV, Rajesh Puri, while sharing the ordeal, revealed he was also paid Rs 35,000 from the scammer. Additionally, the actor received a return ticket from Delhi, booked for September 9. To make it all look legitimate, the actor was requested to give some of his pictures for event posters and have a speech ready. The only thing suspicious about the whole incident was that the scammer never sent any official invitation to the actor.

Further recalling what transpired in Delhi, Rajesh Puri divulged being received by two men at Delhi airport. The actor continued, “They took me in a taxi, and after about an hour, they stopped and transferred my luggage into the car. The new car had no license plate, and the driver wore a mask, which raised my suspicions. When I asked him, he claimed it was a new car, but something felt off.”

Despite the alarming situation, Rajesh Puri managed to escape unharmed. The actor revealed that he successfully convinced the kidnappers of his strong connections in Delhi, which played a crucial role in his escape. Eventually, they stopped at a dhaba 12 kilometres away from Meerut, where one of them disclosed the truth and instructed him to leave.

Rajesh Puri went on to share, “I was shocked when the guy told me, ‘Aap wapas chale jaao. Yeh kuch bhi theek nahi hai, koi function nahi hai, aur aap kidnap ho gaye ho.’ I demanded they drop me back as we were in an isolated area, or I would call for help. After a discussion among themselves, the men agreed to drop me at the border, where my brother-in-law picked me up.”

After the ordeal ended, one of the men contacted Rajesh Puri to reveal that he was being taken to a remote location where the kidnappers planned to demand a ransom of Rs 1-2 crore. The man also admitted that he had been fed a fabricated story claiming that Rajesh owed Rs 35 lakh to the person who orchestrated the plot.
