Without Sunil Grover, Kapil Sharma's Show Fails to Deliver on Its Promise, Say Twitterati
Even though the makers decided to get popular standup comedians Raju Srivastav, Sunil Pal and Ahsaan Qureshi to ensure the show’s TRP wasn’t affected, the much-anticipated weekend special fell short on humor.

Last week saw several twists and turns to Kapil Sharma’s mid-air tiff with Sunil Grover. While many reports suggested that attempts were being made to get Grover back on the show, it was also reported that Sharma had already roped in Raju Srivastav, Sunil Pal and Ahsaan Qureshi to ensure this weekend episode was shot and the much-talked-about scuffle didn’t affect the popular The Kapil Sharma Show.

For the uninitiated, following the infamous in-flight tussle, Grover took to social media asking host Sharma to "start respecting human beings also apart from animals." Grover, who plays the popular characters of Dr Gulati and Rinku Bhabhi on Kapil's show, further wrote, "Thanks for making me realise it was your show and you have power to throw out anybody, anytime. "You are the wittiest, and the best in your field. But don't act like a 'God'. Take good care of yourself. Wish you lot more success and fame."

Even though the makers decided to get popular standup comedians Srivastav, Pal and Qureshi to ensure the show’s TRP wasn’t affected, the much-anticipated weekend special fell short on humor.

The Saturday episode which featured Manoj Bajpayee and Tapsee Pannu, who appeared on the show to promote their upcoming film Naam Shabana started with direct digs at Grover. While staging the opening act, Sharma’s comment “Do gaali. Baap ko gaali do” was a direct jab at Sumona Chakravarti’s onscreen father. Later, he told Chakravarti, “Tumhe iss liye baar baar bula rahein hai kyunki tumhara baap nahi aya,’ which was a clear dig at Grover’s absence from the show.

Interestingly, co-star Kiku Sharda, who decided to stay on with Sharma also showed his allegiance towards the host when he said, “Aaj kal unke baarey mei kuch bhi bolo chap jata hai.” Those who have followed the infamous tiff between Sharma and Grover, would know why this statement was relevant to what had happened in reality.

While we loved Grover, Asgar and Prabhakar who left us in splits just by the bizarre manner in which they bonded, we couldn’t feel the same for the new cast.

Kiku’s comment “Yeh audience ko hasaane ki bahut hi nakaam koshish ki gai hai” stands true for his performance as Bumper too. While we have always loved the energy that he brings to the show, it was quite disappointing to see how even he couldn't succeed. All in all, he simply failed to connect.

During his telephonic conversation with CNN-News18 last week, Srivastav had mentioned that the episode which they shot recently was hilarious. But honestly speaking, it was awful.

And the idea of getting popular standup comedians Srivastav, Pal and Qureshi and still not being able to make them do something new was so unexpected.

Unhappy with the recent two episodes of The Kapil Sharma Show, Twitterati mocked host Kapil, new co-stars and showed no inhibitions in mentioning the show can't survive without Sunil Grover.

Vijay Chauhan, who was visibly upset with the weekend episode tweeted, “@KapilSharmaK9 B advised resolve issue with @WhoSunilGrover anyhow#Raju #Krishna #SunilPal never filled place of him #TKSS @TheKapilSShow”

Twitter user Mirnal Kunwar too slammed the show for lame jokes. "Worst episode of Kapil Sharma show. #rajusrivastav and #sunilpal are outdated and not funny at all. @KapilSharmaK9 @WhoSunilGrover,” he tweeted.

Several other tweets too stated just why TKSS won’t survive for long without Grover.
