Would Be Lying If I say I Don't Worry About Being Treated Badly: Kangana Ranaut
Kangana Ranaut recently spoke to CNN-News18's Entertainment Editor about intense scrutiny in relationships, and attacks and abuse of women.

Actress Kangana Ranaut was at her wittiest best when she appeared on filmmaker Karan Johar’s popular show ‘Koffe with Karan’. But her brutally honest replies didn’t go down well with the host. While the director kept mum on the show, he decided to share his opinion on being called the ‘flag bearer of nepotism’ in Bollywood during one his recent interviews at the London School of Economics. Amidst the backlash that Kangana received from the filmmaker, she spoke to CNN-News18's Entertainment Editor about intense scrutiny in relationships, and attacks and abuse of women.

Kangana, who had won her third national award last year, had also admitted that it was indeed a difficult time for her because of the lawsuits between Hrithik Roshan and her.

On being asked if the intense scrutiny in her relationship made her cynical about romance in bonds, she said, “Well, to be honest, if I say I don’t worry about being treated badly, I would be lying. It is affecting me maybe on a small level, because I’m very aware of myself, but yes it can have that pressure. What if my trust is taken for granted and I’m treated badly? I just feel that in my earlier relationship I was treated like a safety net someone who is there always. That was the idea. It was not that I had nowhere to go… that was the idea… wanted to be there. Just because I’ve not signed a legal contract, doesn’t mean… so I feel that to have that evolved relationship, you have to be very fortunate to be able to afford that and to know that your man is coming back to you not because he has to, but because he wants to."

When asked about the increasing attacks on women, about the recent case of Gurmehar Kaur and the Malayalam actress who was molested in her car, she said, “Well, it’s appalling. It’s horrible and somewhere we are going on disrespecting women and all the jokes are made about them and the way they are teased. Even in the films for that matter we are taking it lightly. It’s getting worse every passing day. But I don’t know what to do to help the situation… because these things are… like someone said, women are not raped or molested for a sexual desire. It’s to get control over her or to humiliate. To put it across that no matter what, the physical power is with us. So it’s that sort of power dynamic that’s very dirty."
