Lakshya Kochhar is gearing up for the release of his upcoming series titled Bambai Meri Jaan. The show narrates the life and rise of Dara Kadri, a tale told through the lens of a father, Ismail Kadri, an honest cop torn between his duty and responsibilities. The 10-part series intricately weaves in the nature vs nurture narrative. In a recent interview, Lakshya Kochhar opened up about his role in the Shujaat Saudagar directorial and shared that he is ‘thrilled’ for its release.
“My character in “Bambai Meri Jaan” is based on a cascade of hidden truths, vividness and mysteries. I’m exhilarated to portray a character engulfed in shades of gray yet someone who loves colours. I’m really excited for the audience to see this one. I can’t reveal much but I play the youngest sibling in the family of gangsters. Well, the viewers are in for a visual treat as my character adopts a unique arc in the second season. It’s like playing two diverse characters in the same show. I am absolutely thrilled!”
Besides Lakshay, Bambai Meri Jaan also stars Kay Kay Menon in the lead. Recently, the director opened up about casting Menon and shared that it was ‘no brainer’ for him. “I had sent a script out to him. I have been trying to work with him for almost 20 years and things have never materialized. If there’s anyone who could do justice to the role of Ismial Kadri, it was this spectacular actor. I needed somebody who came up and had a certain personality, an aura that speaks volumes. I had a vision of people just seeing the character and in one shot understanding the backstory of him, his life and I am spellbound by how easy Kay Kay made this look,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bambai Meri Jaan also stars Kritika Kamra, Nivedita Bhattacharya and Amyra Dastur in pivotal roles. Produced by Excel Media and Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani, Kassim Jagmagia and Farhan Akhtar, Bambai Meri Jaan is created by Rensil D’Silva and Shujaat Saudagar and directed by Saudagar. The 10-part Hindi Original series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and across 240 countries and territories on 14 September in multiple Indian and international languages.
