A 36-year-old man, in an inebriated condition, called the Mumbai police control room and fire brigade, 28 times, threatening to allegedly drop a bomb at Taj Hotel a five-star hotel in Colaba on Sunday.

The accused, Dharmpal Singh, a labourer from New Delhi, was nabbed by the police from Kalachowkie, central Mumbai hours after a hoax call, reported The Times of India.

After the call, Colaba police investigated the hotel and found nothing untoward raising suspicion of a hoax call. According to reports, Singh is booked for criminal intimidation (Section 506 (2)), and Section 505 (conducting public mischief). He is also sent to judicial custody.

“He told us he was drunk and was stressed as his former employee has not paid him dues. He decided to choose the Taj Hotel as he had heard about it a lot,” said the police as quoted by Hindustan Times.

The accused came to Mumbai from New Delhi in search of a job, eight days ago. “We are still interrogating him to get more details,” said the police officer.
