Preeti Jhangiani is known for her role in Shah Rukh Khan’s Mohabbatein and, for years, has been missing from the silver-screen. However, she has been part of several popular movies and has an interesting career graph in the industry. One of the notable movies she worked in was the comedy Awara Paagal Deewana, along with Akshay Kumar. In a recent interview, the actress revealed what it was like to work with Akshay and how the actor would play pranks on others on the set.
In a conversation with Bollywood Thikana, when Preeti Jhangiani was questioned about working with Akshay Kumar, the actress said, “He is fabulous, a big prankster on set. He has stolen many watches! You shake his hands, and he will steal your watch! Haath ki safai aati hai unko. (He knows how to fool others)” As a follow up, the interviewer asked that earlier another guest shared that an alternate career option for Akshay Kumar could have been as a pickpocket and Preeti agreed with the same. She further added, “But on that set, the funniest person was Johnny Lever. He would make everyone laugh the most.”
Preeti Jhangiani was recently seen in the web series Kafas streaming on Sony Liv which also stars Sharman Joshi and Mona Singh. Interestingly, Mohabbatein completed 23 years in October of this year. Speaking about her experience on the sets of Mohabbatein, in an interview with ETimes, Preeti recalled that one of her most memorable moments was when Amitabh Bachchan offered her a shawl, but she did not accept it as she was quite shy at the time. Preeti mentioned that she feels bad now, as she would have had that shawl.
Further, Preeti Jhangiani shared that Shah Rukh Khan had also given her some “valuable advice” on the sets of Mohabbatein. She narrated, “He told me to sing the song and not lip-sync it, no matter how bad I think my voice is or how bad I sound because the camera catches everything. He told me you can’t lie to the camera and that’s something that he taught me.
Preeti made her film debut in the 2000 film Mohabbatein. Following that, she appeared in other notable films, including LOC Kargil, Awara Paagal Deewana, and Omkara, as well as a few Telugu and Kannada films. She married her With Love Tumhara co-star, Parvin Dabas, in 2008.
