Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance has been in full swing. The pop star icon cheered for his NFL partner and team Kansas City Chiefs at the 2024 Super Bowl LVIII, celebrating the win with a kiss. Now, scooping some time out from their respective schedules, the pair were recently spotted on a zoo date in Sydney. While fans were flooring over the couple’s adorable public outing, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) indirectly raised objections over their visit. Taking a sly dig at the duo, the non-profit organisation urged the celebrities to “spend their time and money at a true sanctuary” the next time.
In an interaction with TMZ, PETA Foundation Director of Captive Animal Welfare Debbie Metzler incorporated Taylor Swift’s song All Too Well in her statement as she said, “While we understand ‘all too well’ the appeal of seeing Australia’s wildlife, PETA hopes that next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they’ll spend their time and money at a true sanctuary.”
The animal welfare organisation added that a wildlife sanctuary was a better option to visit since visitors are forbidden from feeding or touching the animals there. They are required to maintain a respectable distance from the wild beasts, unlike the zoo premises which allow tourists to pet them. In fact, PETA’s statement comes after pictures and videos on social media captured Taylor Swift feeding a baby kangaroo and petting it at the Sydney Zoo — an action strictly opposed by the organisation. The singer also took a stroll with her beau within the zoo premises, watching the caged wild animals.
Travis Kelce flew to Sydney to reunite with Taylor Swift. The singer, who is currently on her ongoing Eras Tour will kickstart her three-day Melbourne concerts on February 23. Post the wrap-up on February 26, she will be heading to Singapore for three concerts on March 2, 3, and 4. She will then visit Europe with the Old Continent in Paris being her first destination. The 12-time Grammy Award winner will spend most of June in the United Kingdom, beginning in Edinburgh. Swift will perform in London on June 21 and 22.
