Team India skipper Rohit Sharma had a rare failure in this ongoing ODI World Cup as he was dismissed for just 4 against Sri Lanka on Thursday. Rohit, who has been in terrific form in the tournament, was dismissed by Dilshan Madushanka in the first over after Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Rohit started with a boundary on the first ball but Madushanka bounced back with an absolute beauty. The left-arm pacer produced an early variation with a cutter which moved away from Rohit as he missed the line completely and the ball shattered the stumps.

Rohit, who grew up playing at Wankhede, has a miserable record at the stadium in recent times.

Meanwhile, it was the second time in this World Cup that Rohit was dismissed on a single-digit score, earlier he registered a duck against Australia.
Earlier, Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis won the toss and elected to field in a crucial match for them to stay alive in the semifinal race.

India, the only team yet to lose a match at this World Cup, decided to play with the same XI from the last match.
“I would have batted first,” said Rohit. “It’s a good pitch…Under lights, it will be nice for our seamers to bowl.
“It’s a great honour to captain India at the World Cup (on a ground) where I’ve grown up playing.
“As a team, we thrive on getting better. Obviously, it’s important for us to not get carried away and it’s important to stay balanced.”
Sri Lanka made one change from the side that suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Afghanistan, with leg-spinner Dushan Hemantha in for Dhananjaya de Silva.
Mendis’s men have lost four of their six games in the 10-team tournament.
“I think batting second is better than batting first. The players have done well in a couple of matches and are giving their best. It’s a very important three games (coming up) for us,” said Mendis.
