The Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is set to release iOS 17.1, iPadOS 17.1, macOS Sonoma 14.1, tvOS 17.1, watchOS 10.1, and HomePod Software 17.1 updates to the public today. These updates are expected to become available at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (10:30 pm IST).
According to MacRumors, the company recently provided release candidates (RCs) for their upcoming software updates, which typically undergo a week of testing to catch any critical issues. This time, the roll out date is confirmed due to a specific feature in iOS 17.1 for iPhone 12 models in France.
The update, set to reduce radiation levels when the device is stationary, is expected to be available by October 24 (today), as indicated by the French regulatory group ANFR.
iOS 17.1 Update: What To Expect
While iOS 17.1 won’t introduce the Journal app, it does bring some handy additions. It now lets you continue large AirDrop file transfers over the internet, allowing you to step away during the process.
You can also easily favourite songs in Apple Music, keep your display on in StandBy mode with new options, and expect improved performance of Screen Time across devices.
This update also comes with bug fixes, addressing issues like search problems in Messages and persistent images on the new iPhone 15 models.
How To Download iOS 17.1 Update On Your iPhone
– Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
– Tap Automatic Updates, then turn on Download iOS Updates.
– Turn on Install iOS Updates.
– Your device will be updated automatically to the latest version of iOS
Additionally, the latest Apple Watch update is also set to bring some of the best features. The update includes support for NameDrop for quickly sharing contact info with another person, and it adds Double Tap on the latest models, MacRumors reported.
Double Tap lets you tap your index finger and thumb together to do things like answer phone calls and bring up the Smart Stack.
