According to a report by Indian Express, Dr. Shraddha Deshpande, a reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon at Wockhardt Hospitals, revealed that a lack of zinc, iron, calcium, magnesium, vitamins, and other micronutrients can result in nail deformities. Along with brittle nails, there’s also a high chance of discolouration that can make them sometimes make them appear not pleasing to the eyes.

What needs to be done for maintaining healthy nails?

As per Dr. Deshpande, it is crucial to consume foods that provide the body with ample micronutrients. Whole grains, fruits including strawberries, guava, green leafy vegetables, protein sources including eggs and lean meats, nuts like almonds, and sunflower seeds are deemed efficient to improve healthy nails.

In addition to this, there are a few common mistakes that need to be avoided when it comes to taking care of your nails. A cosmetic dermatologist, Dr. Jaishree Sharad, took to social media to she light on the five errors that can harm one’s nail health.
