Super Saturday duly delivered on its promise as two high-octane games of the ODI World Cup 2023 saw Australia pip New Zealand, while Netherlands shocked Bangladesh to win their second game of the tournament. Five-time winners, Australia have won four games on the trot, after losing their first two matches, although they remain in fourth place in ODI World Cup 2023 points table. Despite their narrow 5-run loss, New Zealand are in third place, having a superior Net Run-Rate (NRR) than the Aussies.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands defeated Bangladesh by 87 runs to leapfrog the Bangla Tigers in the points table, rising to fourth place with their second win.
Bangladesh’s defeat means that they have won just one game from six outings, and they can no longer qualify for the semifinals.

South Africa defeated Pakistan on Friday by a solitary wicket and the win ensured the Proteas of top spot in the points tally, thanks to their superior NRR (+2.032 ) over the Indian team, as both sides as level on 10 points each.
India will have a chance of improving their NRR (+1.353 ) and reclaiming the top spot when they take on England on Sunday, while New Zealand’s NRR of +1.232 helped them remain third, even though Australia drew level with them on 8 points, but the Aussies will need to improve their NRR which currently stands at +0.970.
Sri Lanka are in fifth place in the points table, with four points from five games, although their NRR of -0.205, in superior than Pakistan, who also have four points, but their NRR stands at -0.387.

With two wins from five matches, Afghanistan also have four points but their NRR of -0.969, keeps them narrowly ahead of Netherlands who despite having four points, trail in eighth place with a NRR of -1.277 owing to their massive 309 run defeat to Australia.
Bangladesh’s 78-run loss saw Shakib Al Hasan’s men slip to ninth place with just two points to show from their six outings, whereas England, the defending champions sit at the rock bottom of points table with a miserable NRR of -1.634.
