In an intelligence-based joint operation with Assam Police, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday arrested Md Noor Hussain from Silchar, in Assam’s Cachar district, in connection with a blast in an SUV in Kwakta town of Manipur’s Bishnupur district.

The case was initially registered by Manipur authorities [FIR no. 635(6)2023 dated 21.06.2023] at PGCI police station, in Moirang subdivision of Bishnupur, and was later re-registered by the NIA on June 23 in Imphal.

The NIA probe revealed the involvement of Md Noor Hussain in the bomb blast that took place on June 21 in an IED-laden Mahindra Scorpio parked over a bridge located near Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai and Kwakta along Tiddim road in Bishnupur.

Three people were injured and the bridge, along with nearby houses, was damaged as a result of the blast.
